The service of marriage in the United Methodist Church is provided for couples, who wish to unite in marriage, through a service of Christian worship that includes celebration of the Word with prayer and praise. It is regarded as more than a civil ceremony, it is a religious celebration. As a result, weddings at St. Luke’s United Methodist are orchestrated with guidelines of the United Methodist Church.
Procedures For Wedding At St. Luke’s
Setting The Date– requires a $200 non-refundable scheduling fee deposit and confirming a date with St. Luke’s Wedding Coordinator.
Scheduling Exclusions– weddings and rehearsals are not permitted on days that conflict with service or religious events. This also includes religious holidays: Easter Weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, Advent, Christmas Weekend, and New Year’s Eve/Day.
Officiants– A St. Luke’s minister officiates at all rehearsals and weddings held at St. Luke’s. Ministerial service to a wedding couple includes one to four sessions of professional premarital counseling, one night for the wedding rehearsal, and the wedding itself.
Music– All music must be sacred and reflect a reverend and joyful tone. The Director of Music and the Senior Pastor must approve all music 30 days prior to the wedding. The church organist is provided with all wedding services. If you desire that someone other than our staff organist plays, the Director of Music must approve. Soloist needing accompaniment should provide music for the organist/pianist 30 days prior to the wedding.
Sanctuary– capacity of 520 people.
Sanctuary Wedding Cost ………. $1350 to $1600 (depending on size of wedding)
Chapel– capacity of 65 people.
Chapel Wedding Cost ………… $850.00
Smoking/Alcohol/ Weapons Policy
St. Luke’s United Methodist is a smoke-free, alcohol-free, and weapon-free campus. Thus, smoking and drinking is prohibited in all areas of our campus including: parking lot areas and inside the building. Further, no weapons ( real or fake ) are permitted for any reason, including as decoration in weddings or receptions.
