OUTREACH
We will be the hands of Christ for and among the least, the outcast, the stranger, the poor and the other.
Through St. Luke’s Hunger Ministries we operate one of the largest food pantries in the city and provide meals for those in need through a weekly Saturday supper and Sunday Breakfast.
We provide many service opportunities through the Adopt-a-School program with Sherwood Elementary and within the church congregation as we engage in groups that use their talents to make Prayer Shawls, create crafts to raise money for the hunger ministries, and through a sewing ministry that teaches sewing skills and provides Easter dresses for students at Sherwood.
Other projects through out the year include housing repair ministries, environmental action, employment ministry, and emergency assistance.
Community Partnerships include the University Council of Congregations, the University Neighborhood Development Corporation and others.
Connecting in Mission supports local and regional agencies such as Hannah’s Hope adoption ministry, Untied Methodist Neighborhood Centers, Reelfoot Rural Ministries and other Memphis Conference agencies. We also support international missions through the global outreach of the United Methodist Church.
